Unpacking UNDP Africa Human Development Report

The United Nations in Zimbabwe run a series of communications and advocacy on gender equality and women’s empowerment unpacking the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5 as a lead to the International Women’s Day including during and after the day.

The advocacy activities were undertaken under the theme, “Women in the Changing World of Work: Planet 50-50 by 2030” #BeBoldForChange.

In line with the theme the Africa Human Development Report published by UNDP in 2016 was discussed live on national ZBC Spot-FM radio with the overall focus on achieving gender equality and the empowerment of women in the continent and in Zimbabwe.

In this regard, Prof. Hope C Sadza, Vice Chancellor of Women’s University in Africa and Dr. Amarakoon Bandara, UNDP Senior Economics Advisor and Chair of UNSDG Taskforce unpacked, during the live radio interview, the contribution of the UNDP’s 2016 Africa Human Development Report to the implementation of SDG5 which aims to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
